Prof. Dr. Xueji Zhang has served as the Associate Editor of Frontiers in Bioscience-Landmark since 1996. Beginning in 2009, he served as the Associate Editor of Frontiers in Bioscience (Scholar, Elite). He joined BRI as the Executive Editor in January 2021. He obtained his Ph.D. from Wuhan University in 1994. His postdoctoral work from 1995-1999 was completed at the National Institute of Chemistry in Slovenia, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and the New Mexico State University, Last Cruces, USA. He is vice president of Shenzhen University and a Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shenzhen University, P.R. China. Prof. Zhang serves as Chief Editor of the American Journal of Biomedical Sciences and has been an Editorial Board Member of 24 international journals. He has authored over 500 papers, 8 books and 130 patents and developed numerous sensors and instruments for commercialization.
Dr. Charley Miao joined BRI as the Publishing Director in January 2021. He is a Board Member of the Asian Council of Science Editors and is the Regional Director for P.R. China. He is also the Deputy Director of CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) International Development & Promotion Center for Academic Journals. He was previously the Chief Acquisition Editor at Higher Education Press, P.R. China during 2004-2005, the Senior Production Expert and Project Manager at Elsevier during 2005-2009, and the Publisher at Oxford University Press during 2009-2012. During 2012 to 2013, Dr. Miao worked as a Council Member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). He has also been the Executive Vice Chairman and Director of the Chinese Committee of Medical and Health Journals on Publication Ethics (CCMHJPE) since February 2013.
Dr. Behrooz Astaneh joined BRI as the Ethics Manager in January 2021. He is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and vice president of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME). He was an editor of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE, Vancouver group) and was selected as a director of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) in July 2020. He is now located in Canada where he works on Health Research Methodology and Evidence-Based Medicine at McMaster University and is also an acting Associate Editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ).
Ms. Nicole Guan joined BRI as the Editorial Director and Managing Editor of Frontiers in Bioscience-Landmark in April 2021. She holds a master degree in Ecology from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Botany. She worked for MDPI from 2012 to 2018, including as a managing editor of Land (ISSN 2073-445X) from 2013 to 2015, of Remote Sensing (ISSN 2072-4292) from 2015 to 2017, as a section leader from 2017 to 2018 and as a section editorial director from 2017 to 2018, then, worked for Elsevier as a publisher in life sciences from 2018 to 2019.
Mr. Joacim Fan joined BRI as a Managing Editor of Frontiers in Bioscience-Scholar in January 2021. He received his M.Sc. from Zhejiang University of Technology, P.R. China in 2018. He has currently authored more than 15 publications. From September 2019 to December 2020, he served as Managing Editor of Journal of Integrative Neuroscience.
Ms. Justus Wu joined BRI as the Managing Editor of Frontiers in Bioscience-Elite in March 2021. She holds a Masters in Chinese Medicine from Hubei University, P.R. China. She served as the Managing Editor of Taxonomy from July 2018 to August 2020.
Kate Wu joined BRI in January 2021 as the Technical Director. He previously served as the IT Manager at IMR Press since October 2017. In this role he was responsible for managing the IT team and for iterative updating and maintenance of the online publishing platform. He has excellent knowledge of website construction and extensive experience in project management. The team he leads is continuously optimizing and transforming the contribution system to the IMR Press. It actively responds to customer requirements and constantly improves the user experience.
